SHSU Center for Music Education Workshops

Workshops in Huntsville and Dallas, a MA in Band Conducting Residency/Intensive Study will be held in Huntsville with closing MA intensive in Dallas. During these times, SHSU faculty will work with MA students on instrumental pedagogy, score study, and rehearsal techniques, and students will complete the Residency/Intensive Study with specific topics for their projects that will be continued online through the summer term. Please note the following:

  • All course content will apply to the SHSU School of Music accredited MA in Band Conducting degree plan and to the MA in Band Studies degree (Distance Learning)
  • The needs of students related to their particular year of study will be determined and addressed through individual communication with the instructors in the intensive portion of the residency and in the online components of the course(s). 

You should expect to pay the “SHSU Online – Graduate” Tuition and Fees, which is the SHSU Resident Graduate rate plus the $101 per credit hour Distance Learning Fee ($1,010 for 10 hours).

Additionally, there is a required Supplemental Course Fee of $500 that you will pay through the SHSU-Marketplace (School of Music).

Optional charges paid through SHSU Marketplace-SOM include campus parking ($21.00), campus housing at Bearkat Village at SHSU ($182.00), meal plan in Huntsville ($187.82), and hotel accommodations (double occupancy with breakfast) in Dallas. The School of Music is arranging a convenient lodging option for Dallas, providing four nights of hotel accommodations (double occupancy) with breakfast for an additional $400, contingent on enrollment and availability. Lodging/meal plans in Huntsville and lodging plan in Dallas are optional.
