Music Therapy, Bachelor of Music

The Music Therapy Program at Sam Houston State University is one of few in the state of Texas and in the nation.
The Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy offers intensive coursework in music as well as the study of neuro-behavioral sciences.
Coursework
The 4.5-year degree plan offers students a variety of learning experiences, both within the classroom and in clinical settings. SHSU's Music Therapy Clinic, located on campus, is one venue used to provide hands-on training as well as observation opportunities. The Bachelor's Degree concludes with a 5-6 month full-time internship.
SHSU also offers a Master of Music in Music Therapy and an Equivalency Program for students interested in continuing their education. All of the Music Therapy Programs are accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music and approved by the American Music Therapy Association.
Audition Requirements
In addition to SHSU admissions requirements, prospective students must pass both a School of Music audition and an interview with Music Therapy faculty.
