Become a School Library Media Specialist

Welcome to the Department of Library Science. Our program is located within the College of Education. We are a nationally recognized exemplary NCATE / AASL* reviewed and approved school librarianship educational program.

Students seeking to be certified as school librarians take courses in our MLS program. Please follow the appropriate links to locate additional information about our program and course offerings.

*The American Library Association recommends that for those who desire a career as a librarian in a PK-12 school setting, they should seek a Master's degree with a specialty in school librarianship from an educational institution that is accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and recognized by the American Association for School Librarians (AASL).
