Full Biography

Colin Davis is a Ph.D. candidate in Music Theory at the University of North Texas, where he also serves as editor for the Journal of Schenkerian Studies. He holds a B.M. in Music Theory from the University of Texas at Austin and a M.M. in Music Theory from the University of North Texas. His research interests include the music of Allan Pettersson, Jean Sibelius, and Ferruccio Busoni. He has delivered papers at the Fourth (2005) and Fifth (2010) International Jean Sibelius Conferences. BIS records included his reconstruction of the original version of Sibelius's Lemminkäinen in Tuonela on The Sibelius Edition, Vol. 1-Tone Poems (2007). His article on this topic appears in the book Sibelius in the Old and New World: Aspects of His Music, Its Interpretation, and Reception (Peter Lang, 2010), which he also co-edited. He is currently writing his dissertation on Busoni's late orchestral works.
