Rebecca Grimes is an Assistant Professor and Director of Opera Workshop at Sam Houston State University. She currently holds degrees in music from Sam Houston State University (B.M.) and The New England Conservatory of Music (M.M.), and is in final phases of her D.M.A. degree at The University of Connecticut. As an undergraduate at Sam Houston State University, Ms. Grimes also earned a degree in Accounting (B.B.A.)

Ms. Grimes possesses a versatile artistry that spans from teaching to directing to performing. Her directing credits include The Beautiful Bridegroom and Amahl and the Night Visitors with Worcester Opera Works, Once Upon an Opera, Gianni Schicchi, A Game of Chance, La Cenerentola, Die Fledermaus and Hansel und Gretel, and La Serva Padrona with Opera del West, Die Fledermaus,Hansel and Gretel, and Diamonds and Toads with University of Connecticut Opera Theater, as well as various scenes programs for Opera del West, Worcester Opera Works, and University of Connecticut Opera Theater. Described by the Worcester Telegram and Gazette as a singer with "clear-toned elegance and dignity" Ms. Grimes' stage credits include leading roles in Die Fledermaus, Le nozze di Figaro, Impressario, Dido and Aeneas, Don Giovanni, Trial by Jury, Gianni Schicchi, L'enfant et les sortileges, A Game of Chance, L'Europe Galante and La Vera Costanza. As a sought-after oratorio soloist, Ms. Grimes has been featured in such works as Mendelssohn's St. Paul, the Haydn Creation, Mozart Mass in C Minor, the Brahms Ein Deutches Requiem, Bach's Cantata 51, Gasparini's L'oraculo del Fato, Handel's Laudate Pueri, Faure's Requiem and Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb. Recent engagements include a recital series with classical guitarist Dave McLellan and the Handel's Chandos Anthem 4 with The Mastersingers by the Sea in Falmouth, MA.

Ms. Grimes is a co-founder of Opera del West, a regional opera company based in the Boston area, and an executive board member of Worcester Opera Works.
