Faculty & Staff

R. Ben Osborne was appointed Adjunct Instructor of Trombone at SHSU in the fall of 2010. He currently performs as second trombonist with the Austin Symphony, with the SHSU Faculty Brass Quintet, and is an active freelancer and private instructor in the Austin area.

He holds performance degrees from Texas Tech University (BM 2002) and Southern Methodist University (MM 2007) as well as a Certificate of Graduate Studies in Biblical Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary (2005).

Ben performs frequently with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, and was trombonist with the Dallas Symphony Brass Quintet during the 2008-09 season. From 2008-2010 he performed as Principal Trombone with the Abilene Philharmonic.

During the summers he serves as trombone faculty at the MasterWorks Festival in Winona Lake, IN.

Ben is an artist and clinician for the Edwards Instrument Company.
