Dr. Dmytro Perevertailenko
Adjunct Instructor, Clarinet
Dmitry Perevertailenko, Adjunct Professor of Clarinet, is an active recitalist and studio teacher. He has performed throughout the United States and Europe. He recently performed the Copland Clarinet Concerto with the Kharkiv Municipal Orchestra and the North Texas Symphony Orchestra. From 2004 to 2007, he was principal clarinetist with the Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Perevertailenko has won multiple competitions including the International Competition for the 50thAnniversary of Israel (Moscow, 1999) and the North Texas State University Concerto Competition (2006).
Prior to his position at SHSU, Dr. Perevertailenko was the clarinet and saxophone instructor at the Music Place and Arts Conservatory (Mansfield, TX) and for the Denton Independent School District. He also held a Development Associate position with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra (2008-2009).
Dr. Perevertailenko began playing the clarinet at age 10. At the age of 17, he was admitted to the Moscow State Conservatorie, where be obtained the Higher Education Diploma (5-year degree). Dr. Perevertailenko completed the Master of Music from Sam Houston State University and the Doctor of Musical Arts in clarinet performance at the University of North Texas. His major teachers include Valeri Altukhov, Raphael Bagdasaryan, Patricia Card and John Scott.
