Grant Resource - Hearst Corporation - WCVB-TV Boston

Synopsis - WCVB-TV recognizes that a good internship program can add practical experience to the education a student gains in college or graduate school. Therefore, the station has established an internship program in which students may work one semester and earn academic credit. There are a variety of internship opportunities available year-round to currently enrolled college juniors and seniors. Interns will be closely supervised and critiqued in order to maximize the learning experience.

Grant Resource -Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars

Synopsis - The Center offers a wide range of internship opportunities to current, recent, or returning college students. There are at least 80-90 interns at the Center at any given time. Availability of positions generally corresponds to the beginning of the fall, spring and summer terms. Most internships are unpaid. The Woodrow Wilson Center has two different internship programs with separate applications and deadlines. Many interns are research assistants for our visiting scholars, contributing directly to research on a wide range of projects. Other interns work in staff and program offices. Wilson Center interns have the opportunity to develop both research and professional skills, and to participate in the numerous activities and events held at the Center.

Grant Resource - National Academy of Social Insurance

Synopsis - The sponsor seeks outstanding graduate and upper division undergraduate students to serve as interns on social insurance policy research and analysis projects in Washington, DC.

Size of Grant - The 12-week summer internship will provide an honorarium of $3,500.

Grant Resource - American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS)

Synopsis - The sponsor offers a summer Minority Science Writers Internship program for minority students interested in journalism as a carreer and who want to learn about science writing.  Interns will experience what it is like to cover the scientific and technological issues that shape our global community.  The internship takes place at the Washington, DC headquarters of AAAS's Science magazine, the largest interdisciplinary journal in the world. The program is a paid, 10-week experience under the guidance of the weekly magazine's staff of professional science writers and editors.  Interns are expected to contribute to the weekly news section, including bylined articles in the print and electronic news service.

Grant Resource - Breindel (Eric) Memorial Foundation

Synopsis - The sponsor is looking for work which best reflects the spirit of Mr. Breindel's writings, love of country and its democratic institutions as well as the commitment to preserve the freedoms that allow such institutions to flourish. These themes are applicable to campus topics--personal experience or contemporary philosophical thought. 

Size of Grant - The winner will receive one prize of $10,000, plus a paid internship at either Fox News Channel, The Wall Street Journal, or The New York Post. Winners from outside of the New York City area will receive free housing for the duration of the internship position.
