Bio

In 1971, Robert E. Roush, EdE, MPH was recruited to Baylor College of Medicine to be the founding director of the Center for Allied Health Professions. He is Professor of Geriatrics in the Baylor Department of Medicine working with geriatrics fellows and coordinating Geriatrics Grand Rounds. His other major endeavor is training health care professionals to screen older patients for their risk of being financially exploited.Since 2009, he has coordinated 115 CME courses in 33 states, reaching over 20,000 healthcare professionals to prevent elder financial abuse. Currently, he is a director of the Institute for Advanced Thought on Aging. (See https://www.goodoldage.org.)

In 2016, he became an adjunct faculty member at Sam Houston State University, where he teaches HLTH 2383, Multicultural Health, and conducts a practicum on Current Health Issues (HLTH 4117). Dr. Roush served several terms as a board member of the SHSU Alumni Association.

In his 50-year career, Dr. Roush has authored or co-authored over 500 published papers, invited lectures, and grant applications totaling $22,000,000. He and Carole, his wife of 55 years, have two children and two grandchildren. He enjoys reading, exercising, traveling and playing golf.
