Bio
Dr. Desha Johnson Makiya is the Assistant Director of Nursing at Sam Houston State University. She has been employed since 2016 and is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor within the Department of Nursing. Prior to this position she was employed as the Critical Care Education Resource Specialist III at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital. She has taught a variety of BSN courses in the medical surgical areas as well as Intro to Nursing Research.
In addition to her role as faculty and assistant director, Desha is an active member of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, North Harris Montgomery County Chapter of Critical Care Nurses, American Nurses Association, Texas Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau, and the International Nursing Association for Clinical and Simulation Learning.
