Prior to that position, he served for seven years as a successful principal in Mt. Pleasant and Daingerfield. He and his wife SuAnne have been married for 31 years and have three grown children. They enjoy lakes, beaches, mountains, and time with family and friends.
Craig Toney graduated from East Texas Baptist University with a Bachelor of Applied Science. He has a Master of Education from Texas A&M, Texarkana, and is currently pursuing his doctorate at Sam Houston State University. He is excited about the opportunity to build on the foundation planted by Dr. Knox at Sam Houston State University Charter School. He believes SHSU Charter is positioned to make a significant impact in the field of education in the greater Houston area and beyond.
Mr. Toney’s passion is to equip and empower the next generation of educational leaders and teachers, helping them acquire the skills and adopt the systems to become transformational leaders in transformational schools. Both his formal education and experience in two transformational school settings with successful, quick turnarounds position him to uniquely and adequately fulfill this passion. His entire career of working with people to elevate their mindset and performance to maximum capacity gives him an understanding of leadership that is highly motivating and strongly supportive. He commits to bring this passion to work every day, valuing every minute with every person as an opportunity to make a deposit that births lasting change.
