Purpose.  Serves as an advisory committee to the Teaching & Learning Center (TLC) in matters pertaining to faculty professional development for teaching effectiveness as applied across the various scholarly disciplines. Serves as the advisory body for the selection of competitive internal programs.  Members serve as TLC contacts for each academic college.

Member Appointments. The Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs makes all faculty appointments from nominations submitted by the academic deans. The committee consists of one faculty representative from each academic college and one representative from the Newton Gresham Library (NGL).  Members serve staggered three-year terms.  Additionally, the Director for Research and Strategic Support at SHSU Online, the Director for Academic Initiatives and Strategy, the Dean of The Graduate and Professional School, and the Dean of the Elliott T. Bowers Honors College serve indefinite terms.

Chair Appointment. The director of Teaching & Learning Center serves as the permanent Committee Chair.
