About Us
Meetings
In weekly sessions, Freshmen Leaders participate in presentations and discussions, in order to gain understanding and familiarity with SHSU and its resources, as well as enhance skills and abilities needed to serve as effective leaders in the university setting and beyond. Presentations emphasize understanding of oneself, and others, leadership skills and techniques, conflict resolution, future growth and development, and detailed resources from across campus. Members of the Freshmen Leadership Program meet every Wednesday during the academic year between 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Service
The Freshmen Leadership Program also places a strong emphasis on service to the university and community. Freshmen Leaders coordinate and participate in service projects and campus activities throughout both semesters, with members contributing over 1,200 combined hours of community service.
