Thomas Davis

Dr. Thomas Davis, 60, is a math professor at Sam Houston State University, where he received bachelor of science and master of arts degrees. Davis received his doctorate from the University of Texas. Davis has served on the Alumni Scholarship Committee for five years, the Women's Advisory Committee for three years and the Student Service Fee Allocations Committee for 13 years. He has been a member of the Faculty Senate for 12 years, serving one year as its president; and the Faculty Athletic Committee for 31 years, serving as its chairman for nine years. He has served as the president of the Texas Association of College Teachers and as a member of the Mathematical Association of America. Davis also has served in the civic and humanitarian capacity, including involvement in the First United Methodist Church, the Chancel Choir, and the Walker County Employees Grievance Committee. He has served as the YMCA executive chairman, as president on the YMCA Board of Directors, as the Democratic precinct chairman for 13 years and as the chairman of the Sam Houston Folk Festival for three years. Davis is in the Bearkat Hall of Honor, was a member of the All Texas and All America football teams and was listed as an Outstanding Young Man in America.
