Glenda Dawson

A former teacher on both the public school and collegiate levels, Glenda Dawson is currently serving in the Texas House of Representatives for District 29. She is a 1963 graduate with Bachelor of Business Administration degree, who also received a master’s degree from the University of Houston.
A twirler in the Bearkat band, secretary of her junior class and a senior class favorite, among other accolades, Dawson went from teaching at Pearland ISD and the University of Houston to working for both public and higher education in the 78th and 79th Legislatures.
Serving on the public education, public health and house appropriations committees during her first term, she was named “Outstanding Freshman Education Legislator” by the 78th Legislature. She currently serves on the higher education, public education, and public health committees.
Dawson, who has one daughter and two grandchildren, currently lives in Pearland.
