The first week of fall and spring we host Welcome Week, which is a 2-week long array of events that familiarizes students with all SHSU has to offer.
In later fall, the university and Campus Activities & Traditions hosts Homecoming with events like the SHSU Homecoming Parade and the Sam Jam Event. This week ends with a bang with Bearkat Alley tailgate party taking place before the big SHSU football game.
In November, we kick off the holiday season by hosting the “Tree of Light”, where the university president lights a giant 42 foot tall tree in Frank Parker Plaza to signify the beginning of the holiday season.
In the Spring, students and the university community can enjoy a night at “The Sammys” where various student leaders, student organizations and faculty/staff are honored for their achievements.
As you can see, there are several opportunities to join your peers and showcase your Bearkat pride. So, don’t wait! Get involved and get connected…TODAY!
