The purpose of this conference was to learn more about the Christian faith, leadership, and to build friendships among organization members. The New Year’s Conference Campus Outreach was a 5-day event held in Austin, TX. It consisted of major rally meetings to learn about God’s plan, small seminars to discuss things such as racial reconciliation, and learn how to, “seek to understand before we seek to be understood.” There were also more specific spiritual topics such as: The Bible, Evangelism, and Discipleship. Guest speakers included: Clayton Dye - Regional Director, Multiplication in Christ, W.C. Garrett - Campus Director, The Gospel of Jesus Christ, Beau Hughes - Pastor, Village Church Denton, Identity in Christ.
Besides winning the conference wide flag football tournament, SHSU Campus Outreach members gained valuable information from the conference. It helped participants move forward as an organization to serve God, fellow man, and improve the future. Attendees learned how to build relationships with people from various ethnic backgrounds, what it means to be a “Godly man or woman,” and how living in that role helps serve others. Participants also learned about their true identity, and how that impacts daily lives.
