Mia Gradney is an accomplished news anchor and journalist who has produced and delivered original award-winning content, to national and local audiences, for more than two decades.  She currently anchors the evening newscasts for KHOU 11 News.  

​Throughout her career Mia has covered a diverse range of issues and major stories. She has reported on historic hurricanes, Hollywood red carpet premieres, elections, and top sporting events including multiple N.F.L. Super Bowl and M.L.B. World Series Championship Games.

For two decades, Mia has covered everything from historic hurricanes to major Hollywood red carpet events and national sports championships. She specializes in breaking news/continuous coverage and special events with interest in women empowerment, job readiness, health and wellness, and sports entertainment. 

Mia holds multiple Emmy awards, a Gracie Award, and has been at the helm of multiple Edward R. Murrow award winning breaking newscasts. Other professional awards and honors include: Lone Star Emmy Awards for two half-hour magazine special programs, an environmental series and special events coverage. In addition, Mia has received Lone Star Emmy nominations for a special medical report and a half-hour employment special. 

Mia attributes much of her success to the amazing education she received at Sam Houston State University as an aspiring journalist who anchored the campus newscasts for Cable Channel 7. In 2016, the university honored and inducted her into its Distinguished Alumni Society. She is also a past inductee into the school’s Dan Rather Hall of Fame.

Away from the news studio Mia embodies the Sam Houston State University motto, “The measure of a Life is its Service,” with her volunteer work and advocacy in the greater community.   Since 2000, Mia has empowered women at Dress for Success Houston as a long time Advisory Council Member and volunteer.  She leads a class teaching Dress for Success clients how to Speak for Success.  Mia also co-founded Dress for Success Houston’s young business professionals' network, Women of Wardrobe. Mia is also a recipient of the M.D. Anderson Cancer Hospital’s Karen Harrison Service Award for her work and dedication to pediatric cancer awareness and education.
