The Computing Science Program at Sam Houston State University strives to provide students with the highest quality education possible.

The Computing Science Program is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the commission's General Criteria and Program Criteria for Computer Science and Similarly Named Computing Programs.

The BS degree in Computing Science offers coursework grounded in theory, small class sizes, knowledgeable professors, and a variety of facilities for hands-on learning.

Coursework

The Computing Science major requires additional hours of Computing Science coursework beyond the general degree requirements. Students are expected to select an emphasis from the options of Computing Science (CS), Information Assurance (IA), or Information Systems (IS). Each concentration requires slightly varied coursework.

All Computing Science majors will take courses on programming and algorithms, computer components, databases systems, data structures, and software engineering.

Other course options include Web Technologies, Visual Programming, Human-Computer Interaction, Game Design, Computer Graphics, and Simulation.
