SHSU To Conduct Notification System Test

Jan. 15, 2016
SHSU Media Contact: Julia May

Sam Houston State University will conduct a full test of its KatSafe mass notification system—including siren, email, voice and text messaging, social media, and the desktop notification system—Wednesday (Jan. 20) at 9:55 a.m.

It is not necessary to take any special action, and members of the university community should continue regular activities at the time of the test.

The university’s multifaceted KatSafe system allows campus officials to quickly communicate vital information during emergency situations. Various optional components are used for messaging, depending upon the severity of the situation.

With the start of the new semester, members of the SHSU community are reminded to make sure your current contact information is in the KatSafe system. Verification of correct information and updates can be made by going through SamWeb

For more information about KatSafe, view the video at youtu.be/pJOTa3emYos or go to the KatSafe web page at shsu.edu/katsafe/.
