Texas Association of College and University Student Personnel Administration recently announced five new board members, including a representative from Sam Houston State University. Kristy Vienne, who serves as SHSU’s assistant vice president for student affairs, has been elected to Director of Education and Professional Development for TACUSPA.
Vienne, a member of TACUSPA since 2006, is proud to be representing SHSU on a statewide board.
“I consider it to be a tremendous honor to be elected by my peers to represent such a wonderful institution as Sam Houston,” said Vienne. “Our Division does such tremendous work for our students and this opportunity allows us to showcase those efforts on a statewide level.”
Vienne also says she is looking forward to continuing to meet with others in student affairs across the state to bring ideas back to Huntsville.
“I want to use this opportunity to continue to learn and develop programs that will benefit our campus staff members as well as Student Affairs staff across the state,” said Vienne. “These learning opportunities will enhance our professional development – with the end goal of benefiting our students here at SHSU.”
Others on campus say this appointment is a long time coming for Vienne.
“It is well deserved and we all are proud of her accomplishment. I know she will do a great job for the organization and advance them to a new level,” said vice president for student affairs Frank Parker.
The TACUSPA organization is built on volunteers who are dedicated to the development, support and promotion of the student affairs profession across the state of Texas. New officers will be sworn in at the fall conference in Houston October 21-23.
