Sam Houston State University is getting spooky with Sammy's Haunted Homecoming. Although this year's events look a little different, the tradition of homecoming continues with a week full of activities planned both in virtual and hybrid settings beginning Oct. 19.
“Homecoming is such an important week for students as it represents the entire SHSU community coming together, including our Alumni, to take part in a theme-filled week of activities,” said Steven Begnaud, assistant director of Student Activities. “Homecoming feels like the peak of the fall semester with all of the events and engagement around campus.”
Some events will be fully virtual, but for the hybrid and in-person events all precautions from state and university mandates will be enforced.
“For PC Cinema and FireFest, both taking place in-person, all attendees must remain in their vehicles for the duration of the program. Other events such as Sammypalooza and the Homecoming Court presentation will be completely virtual,” Begnaud said. “We want to promote student life in a fun and engaging way, while maintaining the highest levels of precautions.”
Students can stay involved by staying connected through social media by following Sam Houston State on facebook, Instagram and twitter, or student activities @SHSUStuAct. For more information or to register for events visit shsu.edu/homecoming.
