True Balance4Eating with allergies or intolerances can be difficult, and checking every ingredient can be time consuming. Now, members of Sam Houston State University’s campus community have more options with the opening of the new True Balance Allergen Solutions Station at General’s Market this week.

True Balance accommodates guests with food allergies and gluten intolerances. The menu has been carefully designed to create menu options for all guests to enjoy by eliminating the top 8 food allergens: milk, eggs, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, soy and wheat. These 8 food allergens cause 90 percent of allergic reactions in all people.

“We are happy to facilitate safe and healthy choices for people with food allergies or special diets while dining on campus,” said Laurel Stevens, SH Dining Services marketing manager. “The goal is to provide our guests with an equal opportunity to enjoy the dining services regardless of their specific food allergy or sensitivity.”

The SH Dining Services True Balance Station offers an eclectic menu of rotating items such as Spicy Lemon Chicken, Beef and Mushroom Pot Roast, fresh vegetables and sides. Operating hours are from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday at General’s Market.
