Morgan Robertson, a sophomore at Sam Houston State University majoring in history and double minoring in political science and criminal justice, is the youngest to be elected as an alternate state delegate to the Texas Republican Convention from Walker County.
“I am grateful I get the chance to serve my community,” said Robertson.
Robertson will be one of the 40 to represent Walker County and present ideas, legislation, and policies to the state at the GOP State Convention.
“If during the voting or discussing resolutions and a delegate must leave the room, it would be my responsibility to take the place of that delegate and vote on the resolution,” said Robertson.
Robertson currently is the city secretary intern at the City of Huntsville, is in the Pre-Law Society, and is also a LEAP Ambassador.
“LEAP is unique in the sense that we are not strictly focused on one area of interest. LEAP’s model is to create well rounded individuals who are well versed in many aspects of the professional world. With LEAP I have expanded my knowledge in art, history, public administration, current affairs, and local government.”
She has also served as the secretary on the Nominations Committee at the Precinct Convention and has been on the dean’s list both fall 2020 and fall 2021.
“After I graduate, I plan on attending Graduate School for a Master of Public Administration,” Robertson said, “My goal is to work in government and continue to serve people and the community that I live in.”
