Degree & Certificate Program Additions Approved By Board of Regents

Multiple degree and certificate degree program additions were among the items approved by the Texas State University System Board of Regents at their regular quarterly meeting on the Texas State University campus on May 16 and 17.

A degree program addition was approved for an Embedded Associate of Arts in Homeland Security Studies.

A degree program addition was approved for an Embedded Associate of Arts in Criminal Justice and Criminology.

A degree program addition was approved for an Embedded Associate of Arts in General Business.

A certificate program addition was approved for a Graduate Certificate in Real Estate Analysis.

A certificate program addition was approved for an Undergraduate Certificate in Criminal Justice.

A certificate program addition was approved for an Undergraduate Certificate in Investigative Forensic Science.

A certificate program addition was approved for an Undergraduate Certificate in Jazz Studies.

A certificate program addition was approved for an Undergraduate Certificate in Management and Leadership in Criminal Justice.

A certificate program addition was approved for an Undergraduate Certificate in Real Estate Analysis.

A certificate program deletion was approved for a Graduate Certificate in Early Childhood Special Education.

A change in program delivery was approved for an EdD. in Curriculum and Instruction.

A change the General Education Core Curriculum was approved.

A degree program title change was approved for a Master of Arts in Special Education.

A semester credit hour change request was approved for a Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology.

A semester credit hour change request was approved for a Master of Business Administration.

All academic affairs program changes are to be implemented upon final approval by the TSUS Board of Regents, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, as applicable.

In finance, an exemption for LEMIT students was authorized to provide an exemption from designated tuition, mandatory fees and online fees for students solely co-enrolled in the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (LEMIT) Leadership Command College (LCC) and the corresponding SHSU course.

Approval of bylaws of the Sam Houston University Foundation (SHUF) were approved. In their May 2023 meeting, the TSUS Board of Regents approved revisions to its Rules and Regulations related to Private Support Organizations in Chapter IX. The By-Laws of the SHUF were revised to reflect these amendments. These revised By-Laws have been approved by the SHUF Board of Directors.

Regents authorized SHSU to negotiate and execute Amendment Number One to the Multimedia Rights Agreement, dated Dec. 7, 2020, with Van Wagner Sports & Entertainment, LLC. for the naming rights to athletic facilities.

Authorization for Amendment Number Twenty-Three to Food Service Contract was approved.

Regents authorized SHSU to charge a designated tuition rate of $50 per semester credit hour for dual credit courses and an additional $50 per semester credit hour fee when the qualified instructor is employed by SHSU. The instructor fee would be waived for courses through Huntsville ISD.

Regents authorized SHSU to change the fee structure of the Executive EMBA program from a per year charge to a per semester charge with a non-refundable orientation fee for Fall 2024.

In contracts, SHSU was authorized to execute Amendment Number One to the University Ring Agreement, dated Jan. 1, 2023, with Jostens, Inc. for the University’s Official Ring Program.

Authorization to execute a contract with EAB Global, Inc. for various EAB products/services was also approved.
