Sam Houston State University has announced the upcoming launch of SamPoly, a cutting-edge Polytechnic College designed to immediately equip students with industry-driven skills and workforce-ready training. Opening for applications starting this summer, SamPoly will offer innovative educational pathways tailored to meet the demands of today’s evolving job market.

As SHSU’s ninth college, SamPoly will launch with four fully online programs:

Leading the new college is Chad Hargrave, vice president for research and strategic partnerships. With a strong commitment to innovation and workforce readiness, Hargrave and his team view SamPoly as a growing hub for active learning, alliances with industry leaders and career-focused training.

“Our goal is to strengthen the gap between education and industry,” Hargrave said. “SamPoly was developed in collaboration with industry partners to ensure graduates have the skills and credentials employers demand.”

With the rapid pace of technological advancements, SamPoly will provide students with experience and relevant certifications that position them for immediate success. Additionally, some course credit earned through certificates and associate degrees will apply towards four-year bachelor’s degrees.

“This initiative aligns with Sam Houston State’s mission to support economic growth and workforce development in Texas and beyond,” Hargrave said. “Our aim is to expand SamPoly certification options over time. We continue to meet with business leaders and analyze job data to identify future programming.”
