Ashley Dobos, a geography major and president of Geographers of Sam Houston (GOSH), the campus-wide student organization comprised of students interested in the field of geography, served as the photographer/visual documentarian during Dr. John Strait's Field Experience to the Mississippi Delta trip this past summer. She entered some of her work from that experience into the contest and was awarded first place in the black and white category. The winning photo (below) was taken during the group's stop in Tutwiler, where W.C. Handy experienced his first unusual exposure to the Delta Blues.
Another photo - Dr. Strait's good friend Willie "Po' Monkey" Seaberry in front of his juke house - was picked as one of several curator's choices.
