Design and Technology

The Department of Theatre and Musical Theatre BFA programs develop outstanding theatre artists with the professional skills, intellectual vigor, and creative resources necessary to excel and thrive in the performing arts of the 21st century.

The design and technology program develops students with introduction to the methods, concepts and materials of designing for the theatre, including the elements of set design, costume design, properties design, lighting design, and sound design for the stage.

Students will also receive instruction the technology, construction standards and production techniques at an industry standard. Our faculty are working professionals and as such keep abreast of these movements in the industry so they might apply them in the classroom and studio spaces. This technology includes, but is not limited to, instruction in computer aided drafting (CAD) software and digital rendering styles.
