Steps to Apply
- If you are a first-time freshman, apply through Common App or ApplyTexas.
- For transfer, graduate, and international students, complete an application through ApplyTexas.
- Non-Refundable Application Fees:
- Freshmen, Transfer, Graduate: $50
- International: $90
- Fee Waiver Options:
- Freshman: Qualify by submitting ACT/College Board Waiver or High School Counselor/Principal Letter.
- Transfer: FAFSA Submission Summary Report for fee waiver requests.
All students must submit the following official transcripts:
- Freshmen: High school and college transcripts (if applicable) from all institutions attended.
- Transfer: Official college transcripts from all institutions attended.
- Homeschool Students: A notarized transcript.
- International Students: Ensure transcripts are evaluated and include a GPA on a U.S. 4.00 scale by NACES or SDR accredited services.
- Graduate Students: Transcripts required from all institutions attended.
- Veterans: Military transcripts and college transcripts (if applicable) from all institutions attended.

Note: SHSU does not accept faxed transcripts.
Freshmen students can submit SAT (SHSU School Code: 6643) or ACT (SHSU School Code 4162) scores, though they are optional.

Returning Students: Must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 from previous coursework. Review additional requirements if placed on probation or suspension. Returning students pursuing a graduate degree should follow the Graduate Student Application process.
