Chapter Status

Chapter Status

  1. Good Standing – Chapters that are currently recognized as having met all FSL minimum standards as defined in the FSL Policy. These organizations are not under sanction(s) or review for Student Code of Conduct violations by the Dean of Students’ Office.
  1. Conditional Status–Chapters that are currently under review for alleged violation(s) of national organization policies, council policies, FSL Policy, institutional policies, and/or federal, state, or local laws.
  1. Social Probation – This status is given based on a chapter’s violation of institutional or FSL policy, and includes requirements that must be met during the probationary period for Good Standing to be reinstated. Stipulations may vary, but can include: loss of social privileges (i.e. parties/mixers, other events that are social in nature), limited or loss of recruitment/intake privileges, and/or added requirements for chapter improvement (i.e. educational programming, leadership development, or academic recovery plans).
  1. Suspended – This is a sanction designated for chapters who have violated national organization policies, council policies, FSL Policy, institutional policies, and/or federal, state, or local laws. These chapters have temporarily lost their recognition as official university organizations due to violations. While on suspension, chapters may not participate in University events or utilize University resources.
  1. Unrecognized – Previously recognized entities that have made the active decision to no longer be recognized as a chapter or organization at the University. These organizations may appear to operate like official university organizations, but they are NOT affiliated with, or recognized by SHSU. These organizations do not have the privileges and benefits of recognized university organizations. In the spirit of informed consent, it is important to note that involvement with unrecognized entities carries with it inherent risk..
