How do I install Cisco Jabber on my university owned computer?
You can install it by searching for Jabber in the Software Center on a PC or Self Service on a Mac.

Can I install Cisco Jabber on my non-university computer?
You can download Cisco Jabber from our Home Use Program site at https://samweb.shsu.edu/home01wp/.

Can I disable notifications for calls received for my pickup groups?
You are not able to disable those notifications. You will need to create a request in Katalyst to be removed from those pickup groups.

Can I add external SHSU clients to my contacts for Chatting?
No, you are only allowed to use the Chatting feature with SHSU users.

Is there a Video feature?
Yes, you can use Audio and Video in your phone calls as long as you have access to a webcam, speakers and microphone.

Why do I see a Cisco Jabber Chats folder in my SHSU Inbox?
This folder will save your conversation history for your chat sessions. To enable/disable this feature do the following, go to the Gear > Options > Outlook tab, then uncheck the "Save chat sessions to 'Cisco Jabber Chats' folder in MS outlook.

Do I have to dial 8 or 1 to make a long distance call or off campus number?
No, You should be able to just enter the 7 digit phone number.

How do I request Chat Room creation?
All users are capable of creating and administering their own chat rooms. No need for administrator intervention. Just click on the "New Room" button in the Rooms section to get started.

Does Cisco Jabber update my password when I have to change it?
No, Cisco Jabber will open up a dialogue box for you to update your password. You could get also get an error message about "Invalid Exchange Credentials". It takes some time for Cisco Jabber to update the Exchange piece.
