Welcome to the SHSU Campus Recreation Group Fitness Program! 


At the Rec Group Fitness Program, we're dedicated to providing a diverse range of fitness classes to cater to all fitness levels and interests. Our experienced and passionate instructors are here to help you achieve your fitness goals while having fun and building a supportive community.

Our program offers a variety of classes, such as:

  • Kickboxing
  • Advanced Kickboxing

  • Restore & Recover
  • Cardio Kickboxing

  • Dance Fitness

Each of our instructors brings their unique expertise and energy to their classes, ensuring an engaging and enjoyable experience for all participants. Whether you're looking to improve your strength, flexibility, or cardiovascular fitness, our Group Fitness Program has something for everyone.

    Dress Code:

  • Athletic attire is required to participate in group fitness classes. 
  • Not permitted: jeans, clothing with metal buttons or zippers, or any attire that may damage equipment. 
  • Footwear: Closed-toe athletic shoes must be worn (with the exception of barefoot formats like yoga or Pilates). 

5-Minute Policy 

  • For safety and class flow, no participants will be allowed entry into a class 5 minutes after the scheduled start time. Please arrive early to secure your spot and prepare. 

Minimum Participant Policy 

  • A minimum of 3 participants is required to hold a group fitness class. 
  • If fewer than 3 participants are present at the start time, the class will be canceled. 

Waiver Requirement 

  • All participants must sign a waiver once per semester (either online or in person). 
  • Note: Signing up for classes through our online system will prompt you to agree to a waiver each time. 

Music & Equipment 

  • Participants are not permitted to touch or adjust the music system, microphone, or any instructor equipment. 

Food & Drink 

  • No food is allowed inside the fitness studios. 
  • Water is permitted, but only in closeable, non-glass containers. No cans allowed. 

Eligibility 

  • Group fitness classes are open to: 
  • Currently enrolled SHSU students 
  • SHSU faculty/staff who have purchased a valid semester group fitness pass 
  • Guests and non-members are not permitted to attend group fitness classes. 

Lost & Found 

  • Items left in the studio will be turned in to the Member Services Desk at the front of the Campus Recreation Center. 

Facility Guidelines 

  • All participants are expected to adhere to Campus Recreation’s facility guidelines and policies posted throughout the facility. 

Right to Refuse Entry 

  • Fitness staff members reserve the right to deny access to any participant who does not comply with the above policies.
