Blending high-tech and high-touch approaches to learning, this nationally recognized banking program successfully prepares students for the real world. Industry leaders serve as guest speakers bringing theory into practice. Tailored to the Banking industry, this major easily combines with a double major in Finance without exceeding the required 120 credit hours.

Student Engagement Opportunities

The highly respected Smith-Hutson Endowed Chair of Banking works closely with industry professionals to actively recruit throughout the year and engage students in program opportunities.

Students are provided unique engagement opportunities designed to prepare them for successful careers in banking and finance. The annual Banking Day Industry Career Fair brings recruitment directly to campus, connecting students with industry employers. The Banking and Finance Club, available to all majors in the program, meets monthly and features industry leaders who speak and network with students. Through our DevelopU mentorship program, students interested in bank industry careers are matched with alumni and banking partners who provide guidance and support throughout their academic journey.

Partnerships with these industry leaders have resulted in a successful Banking Internship Program. Highly encouraged, internships provide students an opportunity to apply academic learning to actual work experience, gaining useful employment-based knowledge and direct exposure to the banking industry. Students may receive three semester credit hours per internship, not to exceed six semester credit hours total.

Each year, Banking and Finance majors participate in a field trip to the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, Houston Branch, for an exclusive tour and reception with bank executives and RMA members.

Additionally, the program provides over $50,000 in internal scholarships for undergraduate students, demonstrating our commitment to making quality education accessible and rewarding academic excellence.
