Bilingual (Spanish) Educational Diagnostician, Graduate Certificate
Available: On Campus and Online
Sam Houston State University offers a Bilingual (Spanish) Educational Diagnostician Graduate Certificate. This certificate may be part of both the M.Ed. in Special Education and the Educational Diagnostician Certification programs. However, it is also a stand-alone certificate for professionals who already have both their Educational Diagnostician and Bilingual Teacher Certifications.
Our program targets the significant gap that exists in the training of bilingual evaluation specialists working with Emergent Bilingual (EB) students in Texas and across the country. The courses in our certificate focus on the unique approaches needed for testing EB students. We cover the administration of Spanish and English tests, the interpretation of results considering the students' linguistic and cultural backgrounds, and the ethical and appropriate recommendations that follow.
Three courses are required to complete the certificate; offered one per semester in the summer, fall, and spring.
This Graduate Certificate is eligible to receive Title IV funding – Direct Unsubsidized Loans and Graduate PLUS loans by request. To be considered for aid, students need to submit a FAFSA.
