Frank Parker, vice president for student affairs, retired in May after more than 41 years of providing leadership and support for generations of Sam Houston State University students.

To honor his accomplishments and years of service, the university officially renamed a part of campus, outside the Lowman Student Center, as ‘Frank Parker Plaza.’

The plaza is one of the most visible and prominent places for students to gather. It provides a place of conversation for students, faculty, staff and visitors of the university. Parker’s efforts to create a more inclusive, student-engaged university makes the space a fitting place to be named after him.

“Names mean something. That is why we want to honor Mr. Parker by naming this plaza after him. Our university is honored to have his name be a part of us forever,” said SHSU President Alisa White.
