Assessment

The university’s centralized assessments are organized through the Office of Assessment, and they are responsible for overseeing university assessment, which includes programs, offices, and departments campus-wide. Additionally, they support the assessment of SHSU’s Core Learning Objectives.

This section provides best practices as you assess content for your department.

Anthology Planning serves as the university's centralized, online assessment management repository for annual programmatic assessment process. Information collected within Anthology Planning is used by departments and programs to drive continuous improvement. Additionally, these data serve as a source of evidence of continuous improvement assessment for internal and external constituents, agencies, and accreditors. Training on both assessment strategies and implementation, as well as how to use Anthology Planning are offered throughout the year.

Contact the Office of Assessment or view their website for additional information.

Typical University Timeline

Assessments follow the academic year.

Date Deadline
December 1 Deadline for Assessment Plan Updates (Goals, Objectives, Indicators/Criterion, and KPIs/target)
August 1 Deadline for entering findings and results
September 1 Deadline for entering actions and Plan for Continuous Improvements elements
September 15 Period closes for entry for the previous academic year

New Target Field

Beginning with the 2022-2023 cycle, units that have performance objectives will notice that the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) plan item now includes a Target field. In previous cycles, this information was included in the KPI itself. Separating the KPI and target will help ensure that targets are not overlooked.

Cycle Closing Date

To prevent having two cycles open at once, the cycle closing date has moved from the beginning of October to September 15 with the 2022-2023 cycle.
