What: United States Postal Service is partnering with Leader Initiatives, SHSU Bearkat OneCard Services, and Global Engagement Center on Tuesday, to provide you with a convenient way to apply for your first passport or renew your current passport!

How to apply

You can apply for your U.S. Passport at the fair using Form DS-11 if at least one of the following is true:

  • You are applying for your first U.S. passport.
  • You are under age 16.
  • Your previous U.S. passport was issued when you were under age 16.
  • Your previous U.S. passport was lost, stolen, or damaged.
  • Your previous U.S. passport was issued more than 15 years ago.

You can renew your U.S. Passport at the fair using Form DS-82 if you still have your most recent passport. The passport must be:

  • In your current name (if you have changed your name please see Change a Passport for information what form to complete and documents to bring)
  • Issued within the last 15 years.
  • Issued when you were age 16 or older.
  • Undamaged other than normal "wear and tear".
  • Submitted with your renewal application.

If your passport does not meet all these requirements, you must prepare the same application package as a first-time passport applicant.

What you need to bring

What you need to bring depends on what passport options you are applying for. For a full checklist click here.

First-time passports, adults 16 years and older will need:

  • Application for U.S. Passport Form DS-11, complete online or by hand in BLACK INK ONLY (do not sign the form).
  • 2 passport photos (free at Bearkat OneCard Office, active Bearkat OneCard required).
  • U.S. Citizenship documents
    • Born in the U.S.: Original birth certificate with seal (long or half page accepted, small card form not accepted), along with a copy of the front and back (free copies can be taken at the Office of International Programs).
    • Born outside the U.S.: Provide report if born abroad, Certificate of Naturalization, or Certificate of Citizenship along with a copy of the front and back (free copies can be taken at the Office of International Programs).
  • Valid photo ID: along with a copy of the front and back of the photo ID (free copies can be taken at the Office of International Programs).
  • Payment for passport fees (see below).
    • Please provide two separate payments for the application fee and execution fee.
      • Application fee: Pay with Checks or Money Orders payable to “U.S. Department of State”.
      • Execution fee: Pay with Debit, Credit, Checks, Money Orders payable to “Postmaster”.

Renew passport, adults 16 years and older will need:

  • Complete Passport Application Form DS-82 online or by hand in BLACK INK ONLY.
  • 1 passport photo (free at Bearkat OneCard Office, active Bearkat OneCard required).
  • Check or money order for passport fee payable to “U.S. Department of State (see below).
  • Old passport.
  • Marriage License, Divorce Decree, Name Change (if applicable).
