MENTORING

In each department of the College of Education, the Chair appoints an experienced faculty member to serve as the Part-time Faculty and Mentor Liaison. Mentoring  is based on a professional developmental relationship between the more experienced person and the less experienced person. 

The purpose of the departmental liaison is to effectively communicate with the part-time faculty member, serve as a point of contact for questions and concerns, and assist the new part-time faculty member during their first year of teaching. The goal is to maximize the effectiveness of the part-time faculty member and the enjoyment of the teaching experience while providing excellent educational opportunities for SHSU students.
