Mary Meyer ’64 was elected to the Board of Trustees for Wharton County Junior College where she taught for 33 years. Meyer also serves as a volunteer and board member for Houston Hospice. She and her husband will chair the organization’s Spirit Award Dinner this year.

Mike Akridge ’76 will retire after 42 years of service as the Parks Director for the City of Lufkin.

Leslie Antalffy ’80 (MBA) recently celebrated 50 years of professional excellence in the oil and gas industry, working on projects in over 120 countries and on six continents. He has been with Fluor Enterprises, Inc. in Houston as a senior Technology Fellow since 1996 and has served as Executive Director of Process Technology and Engineering since 2010.

Mark Burns ’80 has been selected to the board of directors for Harvey Gulf International Marine’s parent, HGIM Corp. Burns served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Ensco from 2012 until his retirement in 2015.

Anton-Vincent-croppedAnton Vincent ’87 was named Chief Executive Officer of Greencore USA, a manufacturer of convenience foods. Vincent is making the move after more than 20 years in the food manufacturing industry, most recently coming from his tenure as president of the U.S. Snacks division at General Mills, Inc. which he held from 2014-2016.

Monica Thompson Guidry ’87 (MA) was one of 46 recently appointed as a new immigration judge by The Executive Office for Immigration Review. Judge Guidry was welcomed during a ceremony held at the Dept. of Justice’s Great Hall in Washington, D.C. From 2009 to 2018, she served as deputy chief counsel with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Dept. of Homeland Security, in Houston.

Louis Coale ’88 was recently appointed to serve as Vice President and Controller of Key Energy Services, Inc. He previously served as Vice President-Operational Finance for the company.

Jeffery Williams ’90 was promoted to Associate Clinical Professor at Texas Woman’s University, Houston J. and Florence A. Doswell, College of Nursing.

Lisa Ellis ’04 is celebrating her fifth year as an Assistant Professor of Biology at Houston Baptist University.

Jason Robb ’08 was honored by the Texas Bandmasters Association with the 2018 Outstanding Young Bandmaster Award. He currently serves as Director of Bands at Rouse High School.

image2Phillip Pulis ’09 (MBA) and Monica Brown Pulis ’10 just welcomed their first child—baby Bearkat, Jack Oliver.

Ryan Bridges ’11, ’13 was appointed by Governor Abbott to the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists which regulates the practice of psychology in the state of Texas.

Ross Gragert ’13 is an army veteran and Willis High School teacher who was honored by the Texas Education Agency for his innovation in the classroom.

Nick Szoeke ’14 received the 2018 Carl Gluck Creative Impact Award by the Public Theater of San Antonio.

Holly Gruy ’18 was promoted to Chief Operating Officer for the Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership after being a part of the EDP for over 19 years.
