Psychology Students Accepted to Attend the Undergraduate Summit with the APA
On February 21, 2025, the American Psychological Association held the Minority Fellowship Program Undergraduate Summit at the campus of Northern Arizona University in Pheonix, Arizona. Attendance to this summit was competitive and Sam Houston State University was represented by two students from the Department of Psychology. Victoria Camarillo and Ajax Nguyen joined thirty-eight other students from various colleges and universities for two days of workshops and skills training to learn about networking, mentoring, continuing education, and how to navigate the professional world of psychology.

Of his time at the conference, Ajax Nguyen said, “The summit was incredible, and I had an enjoyable time learning from various disciplines that worked in behavioral health. I got to meet people from all walks of life and what they've done for us as a community”.

Victoria Camarillo said, “Throughout the summit, I built meaningful connections, found mentors, and expanded my professional network in ways that will have a lasting impact. The panelists, representing diverse disciplines, provided invaluable insights into career paths, financial literacy, and personal branding—topics that are essential for future success.

This summit was a fantastic opportunity for SHSU students to learn about the intricacies of a career in Psychology.
